The major products that MPEL trade are:
a. Transformers
b. Transformer accessories such as transformer oil, tap changers, hermetic protecting relays, alcohol thermometers, Pressure Relief Valve, Buchol Relay, oil thermometers, etc.
c. Cables and aluminum conductors.
d. Rural electrification.
- TRANSFORMERS
There are basically two types of distribution transformers:
a. Power transformers and b. distribution transformers.
Power transformers such as 33/11kv are specifically used by PHCN to inject more power to an existing grid. They are also used by some companies, institutions, and communities to step up/down the available power supply to consumable level. Distribution transformers are widely used by PHCN Distribution Companies (DISCO) to deliver adequate power to the final consumer.
2. CABLES
Copper and aluminum conductors transverse the length and breadth of the country and are equally widely used by PHCN. But authentic cables are hard to find in Nigeria. With the numerous frauds in place in the Nigeria Power industry, it is hard to determine a good standard cable. However, BEPL, in conjunction with VATAN Cables, Turkey, will supply good and genuine cables that meet and surpass PHCN specification.
